On behalf of the Board of Directors of CAVC I would like to update you on the activities that CAVC has been involved in during the last year. Through the efforts of our legislative committee and legislative consultants we were able to defer a decision on SB 254, State Property: Vending Machines until the 2007 Legislative Session. We are currently planning meetings in Sacramento to discuss the bill. We have also begun a targeted grassroots campaign with a small select group of legislators at the state capitol.  We have had discussions with them about our industry and the issues that concern us including the inequitable taxation of items sold through vending machines.  This year we are going to pursue the snack tax issue again and look to all of you for your support on this effort.

During 2006, the Walsh Family CAVC Scholarship Foundation awarded seven $1,000.00 scholarships to high school / college students that were sponsored by CAVC member companies. In 2007, there will be four $2,500 scholarships available to students sponsored by CAVC members. In addition, this year CAVC awarded a scholarship to one CAVC member to attend the NAMA Executive Development Program at Michigan State University. Both of these programs are available to all CAVC members and their employees.

In 2006, the CAVC Membership Committee put together a Vending Values Coupon Booklet that was given to all CAVC members. This year another coupon booklet will be available to CAVC members. In order to receive the booklet your 2007 membership dues must be paid by February 28, 2007.

On behalf of CAVC, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those that are members of CAVC and encourage you to renew your membership for 2007. To those that are not members I would like to encourage you to join and be a part of CAVC. We have many challenges ahead of us and we need everyone’s help and support. If you would like more information about CAVC explore our website or contact the CAVC administrative office at (626) 229-0900.

Sincerely,

Peter Tullio
